Job Summary: As a Patient Care Associate II, you will provide direct patient care, perform unit activities, and support the Registered Professional Nurse in delivering exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include taking vital signs, assisting patients with daily living activities, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our patients.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate NWH CAREfirst standards of behavior, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for our patients and families
  • Prepare patient rooms for admission, orient patients and families to the unit, and keep them informed of scheduled routines and activities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as hygiene, elimination needs, ambulation, and nourishment
  • Take vital signs, perform blood sugar testing, and measure patient height and weight
  • Document patient data in the medical record, ensuring timely and accurate entries
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff and patients, adhering to situational safety standards and proper body mechanics
  • Perform duties as assigned under the direction of the RN, including receiving and reporting patient information, contributing to the plan of care, and observing and reporting changes in patients' condition

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Six months of experience as a Nursing Assistant, or currently enrolled in a formal nursing program with at least one clinical rotation completed
  • CPR training required, phlebotomy training and experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
