Job Summary
As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers in building and managing large-scale services that provide data to power the Hulu user experience across web, mobile, and living room devices. You will collaborate with engineering and product leadership to establish priorities, champion cross-team projects, and provide guidance to engineers and project managers.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Guide an engineering team in its ownership of systems and processes
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to establish priorities
- Champion cross-team projects
- Collaborate efficiently with product management, technical program management, operations, and other engineering teams
- Provide priority and roadmap guidance to engineers and project managers
- Coach and mentor other specialists on the team
- Work with individual engineers to map out career growth and goals
- Create an environment of trust for people to be themselves and excel
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a significant portion as a programmer and/or technical leader
- 5+ years of related experience crafting large-scale, highly available Java services utilizing various database and messaging technologies
- 3+ years of experience as a manager of software engineers
- Experience deploying and scaling within a cloud infrastructure
- Experience directly managing and mentoring a team
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study
