We are seeking a highly motivated and organized AVID Tutor to work with students at McNary High School. As an AVID Tutor, you will play a critical role in supporting students' academic success and college and career readiness skills. Enjoy the flexibility of this part-time role, which includes in-person and potentially remote work.
About the Role:
AVID Tutors are essential to the success of the AVID program. As a tutor, you will work with students in small groups and individually, providing support in all academic areas. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting in-person tutorial sessions that foster collaborative learning and peer-to-peer teaching
- Determining concepts that need focus in tutorial sessions based on student worksheets, notes, and discussions
- Guiding students to take ownership of their learning while providing strategic support
- Assisting students in any subject area, familiarizing yourself with their textbooks and materials
- Providing constructive feedback on student work
- Supporting AVID scholars through care and connection
- Setting an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students
Requirements:

- Be able to work in a supportive manner with secondary students
- Understand the delicate position of being an advocate for students while being responsible to the teacher
