Job Title: Manager, Software Engineering - Commission Systems (Remote Opportunity)
Job Description:
Join Transamerica, a leading provider of investment, retirement, and life insurance solutions, as a Manager of Software Engineering. In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers in developing and implementing web and cloud technologies to support our agile digital business. You will define web and cloud strategies, grow capabilities, and develop your team by providing technology leadership, career development, and mentoring in design, framework, and platform decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of software engineers in an agile environment, collaborating with other technology teams and business product owners.
- Perform design and analysis for deliverables, lead multi-team design sessions, and recommend solutions considering costs, business needs, and system impacts.
- Develop staff through coaching, provide timely performance feedback and assessments, and establish performance and development plans.
- Mentor current and future leaders, ensuring technical excellence and professional growth.
- Drive a culture of change, excellence, and innovation, constructively challenging the status quo and leading to prudent experimentation.
Requirements:
- Experience with Commissioning and Distributed Support System technologies.
- Prior experience in the life insurance and annuities or financial services domains.
- Knowledge of on-prem, cloud-based, and mainframe systems.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or other technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Six years of experience with database design techniques, modern distributed applications, and microservices.
