Job Title: Law Librarian for Research Services - Join Our Team at Emory University
Embark on a Rewarding Career Opportunity as a Law Librarian for Research Services at Emory University, a top-tier law school located in the vibrant city of Atlanta. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and service-oriented professional to join our team of 11 professional librarians at the Hugh F. MacMillan Law Library. This is a full-time hybrid position that offers a unique blend of research, teaching, and outreach opportunities, available immediately.
As a Law Librarian for Research Services, you will provide high-quality legal and non-legal research assistance to law library users, including students, faculty, members of the local bar, and the general public. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing classroom instruction in a variety of settings, ranging from for-credit instruction to one-off sessions
- Offering scholarship support for law faculty and interacting with a variety of patron groups while staffing the library's Reference Desk
- Supporting and participating in outreach programs targeting both students and faculty
- Designing and teaching Advanced Legal Research courses
- Creating and maintaining online research guides, bibliographies, and other materials to enhance access to legal information
- Serving on law library and university library committees, engaging in professional development activities, and performing other associated duties as required
Qualifications:
- A JD from an ABA-accredited law school (or equivalent) and an MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Experience conducting legal and non-legal research
- Strong communication skills, including a high comfort level interacting with colleagues and a wide range of library users
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing library reference or customer service experience
- Demonstrated success in teaching or public speaking
- Desire to participate in professional law librarianship activities at regional and national levels
- Foreign language knowledge
