Principal DevOps Engineer (Data Platform, Cloud) - Remote

Job Summary:

CVS Health, a leading healthcare company, is seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team remotely. As a technical thought leader and individual contributor, you will drive organizational change by developing DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. You will contribute to enterprise-wide requirements and ensure adoption of visibility, scalability, availability, security, and cost execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead DevOps strategy, covering design and development of tools, practices, and culture
  • Establish and implement DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment strategies
  • Design and manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement and automation
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging data technologies, trends, and best practices, making recommendations for adoption within the organization's DevOps environment
  • Coach and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in public cloud environments (GCP, Azure, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or similar
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate complex DevOps platform issues
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)
  • Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning and compliance frameworks
  • Leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring junior engineers
