We are seeking a passionate and skilled Accessible Media Specialist to join our Student Disability Services team at Cornell University. As an integral part of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to educational materials and resources, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
About the Role:
The Accessible Media Specialist will be responsible for arranging and producing accessible materials, including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, Braille documents, tactile graphics, and enlarged formats. You will collaborate with faculty and course staff to ensure course content is accessible, conduct meetings with students to determine their accommodation needs, and provide training and support on specific assistive technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange and produce accessible materials in various formats
- Collaborate with faculty and course staff to ensure course content is accessible
- Conduct meetings with students to determine their accommodation needs and implement accessible format solutions
- Provide training and support to students on specific assistive technologies
- Serve as a resource for accessibility knowledge within the department and campus community
- Maintain ongoing communication with third-party vendors, such as publishers, content providers, and software vendors

Requirements:
- Associate's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience in the field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong commitment to collaborative work and customer service
- Competence with Microsoft Office and databases
- Strong computer/technical skills and ability to quickly learn, use, and troubleshoot new software and adaptive equipment
- Familiarity with best practice guidelines/standards for digital accessibility, such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
