You will be an integral member of our dynamic team, working collaboratively with both hardware and software engineers to deeply understand the intricate workings of various utility blocks and their diverse application scenarios within Apple's cutting-edge silicon platforms. Your primary responsibilities will encompass the comprehensive composition, meticulous troubleshooting, and strategic coordination of innovative tests designed for integrated remote chips, complex advanced interconnects, and sophisticated power management subsystems. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of utility block performance and diligently investigate any issues that arise during the testing process.

This role requires close collaboration with a variety of engineering groups and cross-functional teams to translate these tests into pre-silicon validation environments. You will work intimately with equipment design engineers to diagnose and resolve silicon-related issues uncovered during testing. Furthermore, you will provide crucial support to product development teams, both locally and remotely, ensuring the quality and reliability of our innovative products.

Join a team of expert software and hardware engineers with a diverse range of backgrounds, spanning cell modems, network architectures, gadget drivers, computer chips and memory, portion software, and embedded systems. As a key contributor to the Silicon Validation group, you will be responsible for defining and developing comprehensive test coverage to rigorously assess utility blocks and proactively investigate potential silicon issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust test plans and test scripts for validating software and hardware components on Apple's silicon platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineers to identify, analyze, and resolve software and hardware integration issues.
  • Conduct thorough debugging and troubleshooting of complex system-level problems, utilizing a systematic and analytical approach.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of automated test frameworks to improve test efficiency and coverage.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of test results and provide clear, concise reports to stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on testability and validation strategies.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies in software validation and silicon testing.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation related to test plans, test scripts, and test results.
  • Proactively identify and recommend improvements to the software validation process.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in software validation, hardware testing, or embedded systems development.
  • Strong understanding of SoC/FPGA architecture and silicon microarchitecture.
  • Proven experience in writing and executing embedded software test scripts.
  • Experience with hardware and software collaboration in a complex system environment.
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including timing analysis, state-machine testing, and RTL/test-bench development.
  • Experience with rapid memory systems and communication interfaces (e.g., PCIe, USB, Ethernet).
  • Good understanding of Macintosh and industry standard specifications for digital interfaces.
  • Experience in developing tests to target specific aspects of silicon designs and digital interconnects.
  • Hands-on experience with the use of modern lab equipment (DSOs, Logic Analyzers, Protocol Analyzers).
  • Experience in interpreting and analyzing schematics and hardware designs.
  • A strong, proactive urge to deeply investigate system-level issues and drive issues to resolution within a collaborative team environment.

Education and Experience

A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, coupled with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, is highly desirable.
