We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Reporting Accounting Manager to lead the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting preparation within our Financial Reporting team. This role will manage two direct reports and is critical to our US and global ESG reporting efforts, including preparation for significant new disclosure requirements, quarterly 10-Q, and annual 10-K reports filed with the SEC.

As the Financial Reporting Accounting Manager, you'll have the opportunity to lead the global rollout of ESG regulatory reporting, collaborating with the ESG program manager and other key stakeholders. You will provide expert guidance on new regulatory requirements, ensuring strong partnership and successful implementation. Responsibilities include developing documentation, drafting regulatory disclosures, and assisting with 10-Q and 10-K reporting. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to coach, stretch, and develop high-performing team members within an experienced and collaborative team.

This role requires a thought leader with strong business acumen, a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting regulations, and internal controls. You will model Starbucks' guiding principles and values, leading the development of a world-class global ESG reporting process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Inspire and guide the team, fostering a positive and collaborative environment. Effectively manage ambiguity, prioritize tasks, and lead through change. Influence organizational priorities and initiatives.
  • Business Requirements: Serve as a subject matter expert in accounting practices, providing clear guidance and education. Drive process improvements through collaboration with client groups. Manage and execute the quarterly reporting process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP. Identify and mitigate risks, and advise on the accounting and financial implications of new transactions and regulations.
  • Partner Development & Team Building: Drive the engagement, development, and performance of team members. Coach and inspire partners to achieve business objectives. Attract, retain, and develop high-performing partners. Design an effective team structure and provide ongoing feedback.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience leading an accounting team for a large, multinational, public company.
  • Experience developing, interpreting, and implementing accounting policies and processes in a high-growth environment with strong internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and complex business transactions.
  • Experience supporting talent development in a diverse work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including experience at a multinational company.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced and complex environments.
  • Ability to assess business processes and implement improvements and controls.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or other ERP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate accounting results to diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence others to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively identify process improvements.
