Systems Engineer II - Content Origin Services
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer II to join our Content Origin Services engineering team at Disney. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, deploying, and maintaining global content origin, mid-level, and edge infrastructure for Disney Streaming properties, including Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and Star+.

Job Description:
As a Systems Engineer II, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining content delivery systems, leading business and operational requirements gathering, and developing detailed analysis and flexible technical solutions. You will also create proof-of-concept drives, develop guides for new product implementations, and collaborate with technical teams to provide insights into emerging technologies and models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and configure content delivery systems
- Gather business and operational requirements, develop detailed analysis, and create flexible technical solutions
- Develop proof-of-concept drives and guides for new product implementations
- Implement service monitoring tools and metrics to identify and address performance issues and system bottlenecks
- Provide support and maintenance, operational and technical support through software/hardware upgrades, service monitoring, and configuration development
- Collaborate with technical teams to provide insights into emerging technologies and models
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of Linux systems administration experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field of study, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with GitLab and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Salt)
- Ability to diagnose hardware deficiencies and performance bottlenecks on compute (bare metal, VM) and storage platforms
- Knowledge of DNS and experience with load-balancing and networking strategies (e.g., Anycast, HTTP, ECMP)
- Strong proficiency with at least one interpreted (e.g., Ruby, Python) or compiled (e.g., Go, Rust) language
- Demonstrates drive and ability to maintain productivity with minimal administrative oversight
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multi-platform, multi-region environments
- Prior experience with HTTP content delivery and configuration development on the platform level
- Understanding of virtualization technologies
- Experience with data center hardware and storage
