HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY Position Summary Tutors will provide expert, one-on-one academic instruction to students from elementary to high school within the San Ramon/Tri-Valley community. This role offers the flexibility of conducting sessions both online and in-person. The central objective is to deliver clear, engaging, and effective teaching in the tutor's specific area(s) of expertise. Tutors serve as crucial mentors, guiding students toward academic excellence, thorough exam preparation, and the development of durable, effective study habits. Compensation: $20 - $35 per hour Key Responsibilities • Conduct expert, individualized tutoring sessions tailored to your designated subjects. • Evaluate individual student learning needs, styles, and academic objectives to design and execute customized educational plans. • Prepare and utilize instructional resources, including curriculum guides and practice materials, to provide structure and enhance comprehension. • Articulate complex subject matter and concepts in a patient, clear, and easy-to-understand manner. • Provide comprehensive support for homework, assignments, and preparation for academic assessments. • Cultivate a productive, positive, and encouraging atmosphere that promotes student confidence and success. • Ensure timely, professional, and effective communication regarding student progress and scheduling with both parents and internal staff. Core Qualifications • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrable mastery in the desired teaching subject(s), as supported by excellent academic records, high standardized test scores, or professional certifications. • Instructional Experience: Previous experience in a teaching or tutoring capacity, in either individual or group formats, is required. • Interpersonal Abilities: A natural aptitude for building rapport with students, combined with strong communication skills rooted in patience, empathy, and kindness. • Professional Conduct: A high degree of reliability, punctuality, and personal responsibility is mandatory. • Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with the curricula of local school districts, particularly the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD), is strongly preferred. • Technical Proficiency (for Online Tutors): Must possess and be proficient with necessary online teaching equipment, such as a digital whiteboard, writing tablet, or stylus. • Mobility (for In-Person Tutors): Must have consistent access to reliable transportation for travel within the Tri-Valley area for in-person appointments.
