Job Post: Line/Copy Edit of 100,000-Word Leadership Book 10 day turnaround
Title: Line/Copy Editor Needed for 100,000-Word Leadership Book – Must Deliver by 5 September
Intro:
I am finalizing a major nonfiction book on leadership in the AI Age that will anchor my speaking, course, and publishing platform. The manuscript is complete at ~100,000 words, and I now need an experienced professional editor to polish it for publication on a very tight timeline. This is a serious project with a hard deadline: the book must be ready for typesetting on 5 September. If you enjoy fast-moving, meaningful projects and know how to elevate writing without losing the author’s voice, I’d love to work with you.
What you’ll receive:
The manuscript will already have undergone several AI-driven editing passes, including:
• Grammarly Premium – grammar, punctuation, spelling, conciseness.
• ProWritingAid – readability, sentence variety, overused words.
• ChatGPT/GPT-5 – restructuring long sentences, breaking up paragraphs, tightening flow.
This means you won’t be starting from raw text. Instead, your role is to provide the human judgment and polish that AI cannot replace — ensuring rhythm, nuance, consistency, and a professional-quality read.
What I need from you:
• A line/copy edit hybrid: improve flow, clarity, and readability while also correcting grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
• All edits must be delivered directly in Microsoft Word with tracked changes only. I do not want margin comments or “suggestions.” Every edit should be integrated into the manuscript so I can accept/decline in one pass.
• Respect the author’s voice while strengthening impact and flow.
• Ensure the manuscript is publication-ready for typesetting by 5 September.
Timeline:
• Manuscript delivered: 25 August (end of day).
• Edited manuscript due: 5 September (firm).
• Please confirm availability to work across this period (26 Aug – 5 Sept).
Deliverables:
1. Edited manuscript with full tracked changes in Word.
2. A clean copy (all changes accepted).
Requirements:
• Experience editing published books (nonfiction, leadership, or business strongly preferred).
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
• Excellent command of English (US, UK, or AU publishing background acceptable).
When applying, please provide:
1. Examples of books you’ve edited (links where possible).
2. A short note on your editing style, especially under time pressure.
3. Your proposed fixed price for this project.
4. Confirmation of availability to meet the deadline.
