Job Description
hiring for a Project Manager - Industrial Automation role to oversee the design, deployment, and startup of a large-scale automation project. This is a REMOTE position that requires travel to Champaign, IL. The project involves integrating advanced automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems, conveyor systems, and WMS technologies for a 750,000 sq. ft. finished goods warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
Oversee the project lifecycle (from purchase order to startup and closeout).
Lead weekly update meetings with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Maintain and manage project schedules, task lists, and documentation.
Engineering & Design (Phase 1):
Guide suppliers through engineering and design activities.
Ensure alignment with capital project goals and timelines.
Collaborate with internal IT and contractors to integrate E80 SMILE WMS with SAP EWM.
Develop detailed project plans and installation schedules.
Deployment & Execution (Phase 2):
Oversee field deployment of AGV systems, conveyor systems, and automation technologies.
Manage installation, commissioning, and training activities on-site.
Ensure project milestones are achieved and safety standards are maintained.
Project Closeout:
Oversee site acceptance testing and qualification.
Finalize and archive project documentation.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Proven experience managing large capital projects in automation or industrial environments.
Hands-on experience with AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) preferred; broader automation experience acceptable.
Industry experience in food, beverage, manufacturing, or CPG is a plus.
Skills:
Strong project coordination skills for remote and on-site activities.
Comfortable working in a flexible, evolving project environment.
Certifications: PMP certification preferred but not required.
Travel: Willingness to travel (~50% during deployment phase).
