Position Summary This temporary part-time Instructional Designer (ID) position will provide instructional design and administrative project management services for a non-credit online program development project. The ID will report directly to the Provost and interface with MUIH's Instructional Design Services unit on technical matters related to building courses in the Canvas Learning Management System. The ID will also interface with MUIH's external project partner and support the partner's subject matter experts in the design and development of a set of non-credit self-paced online courses. This is a temporary position, with an hourly compensation rate. This is a fully remote position; there are no requirements for in-person work on campus. Work hours are flexible, as allowable based on the schedule of the subject matter experts. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Provide instructional design services for the development of a set of non-credit, self-paced, online courses. Support subject matter experts in the design and development of their content for online delivery. Provide ID consultation and support services to subject matter experts for instructional design strategies, the development of videos and supporting materials, learning outcomes and assessment, and closed-captioning and transcripts of video recordings. Develop templates and guides for subject matter experts' use, as needed. Apply best assessment practices and quality standards to ensure alignment with course outcomes. Coordinate review and feedback on course development projects as applicable. Provide project management services for the overarching program development. Collaborate with the Provost and external partner on the development of an overarching framework for the program. Establish development and production timelines and workflow for each course and the program as a whole. Track and report time and costs for the project on an ongoing basis. Track and report progress and the status of individual course developments on an ongoing basis. Manage administrative aspects of the project as needed. Collaborate with MUIH's Instructional Design Services unit on technical matters related to building courses in the Canvas Learning Management System. Education and Experience Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational/instructional technology, or a related discipline. At least two years experience in an instructional design position. At least two years experience providing course development and project-based instructional design services. At least two years experience providing project management services for course development projects. Experience supporting subject matter experts in online course development. Experience with online course quality assurance practices and programs. Preferred: Master's degree in instructional design, educational/instructional technology, or a related discipline. Experience developing non-credit self-paced online courses. Experience making digital course materials (handouts, images, audio, video) accessible. Experience with the Canvas Learning Management System. Experience working in a fully remote environment. Skills and Abilities Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
