Legislative Intern (Graduate Student)

About the position Responsibilities • Assist in grassroots organizing and advocacy efforts • Analyze policies, programs, and regulations that affect the 50+ population • Support the production and dissemination of correspondence with volunteers, members, activists, and the legislature • Work directly with volunteers and staff to represent AARP at local events, including forums, news conferences, and rallies spotlighting AARP issues • Monitor publications and news media for legislative issues of interest • Deliver educational and advocacy materials to legislative and/or campaign offices • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative research, as needed, and research candidates and related events • Other related duties, as assigned Requirements • Prospective interns must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, be considered graduate or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship • Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus Benefits • Hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates • Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
