Child Service Social Worker
About the position
Responsibilities
• Team with Child Protection Social Workers and internal/external stakeholders to increase child well-being, safety, and permanency.
• Interview, assess, and perform case evaluations of clients to determine individual needs and establish appropriate treatment and service goals.
• Ensure children's physical, educational, medical, cultural, and mental health needs are met while they are in out of home placement care and provide transportation when needed.
• Provide preventive and direct services to clients who have mental, emotional, or physical disabilities and other cases involving complex social and financial problems.
• Complete Out-of-Home Placement Plans addressing the specific needs of the child or youth.
• Complete Independent Living Skills Plans for youth ages fourteen and older addressing housing, employment, education, transportation, physical and mental health, social connections and supports, and vital documents.
• Make referrals to appropriate community resources and arrange for services while interpreting social and emotional factors to others involved in the treatment of children/youth.
• Make monthly visits to clients' homes.
• Explain policies, regulations, and programs to clients and the public.
• Prepare social histories with emphasis on psychosocial factors, adoption, or foster home placements.
• Prepare court reports, attend court hearings, and notify court and County Attorneys regarding youth updates.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, human services, or equivalent field.
• Licensure as a social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
• A valid driver's license, the ability to obtain a Hennepin County drivers permit, and daily access to reliable transportation sufficient to transport clients and attend meetings.

• Fluency in another language in addition to English is encouraged; bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
Benefits
• Competitive salary ranging from $61,625.36 to $88,874.74 annually.
