Akkodis is hiring a temp accountant for one of our clients in the healthcare industry! Location: remote (must be within 100 miles of French Camp, CA) Employment type: 5 month contract Pay: $40-45/hr Under general supervision, the Staff Accountant is responsible for recording assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses for assigned accounts. This includes preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, processing checks, and supporting financial reporting. The role ensures accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations, while providing timely support to audits and various stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare journal entries and ensure appropriate documentation for transactions. • Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies. • Complete the full check processing cycle, including reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, and updates to the lag report and medical reserve schedule. • Review accounts payable vouchers for completeness and accuracy, including coding, backup documentation, and approvals. • Respond to issues related to checks and bank exceptions; collaborate with internal and external parties as needed. • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports. • Support regulatory filings and act as a resource to stakeholders on reporting requirements. • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. • Maintain the fixed asset subsidiary ledger, including invoice coding, expense tracking, reconciliation, and support for physical inventory and tagging. • Develop and maintain accounting documentation such as desktop procedures and process manuals. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. • Minimum of 3 years of experience performing account reconciliations and preparing financial statements, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Strong understanding of accounting and auditing principles. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, VLOOKUP, macros). • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Windows. • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in accounting within a health plan, managed care, Medi-Cal/Medicaid, or Medicare environment. • Experience with accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains. • Familiarity with QNXT as it pertains to accounting.
