In the inpatient services setting, your role as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant entails providing hands-on care to patients of varying age categories, ranging from newborns to seniors, to improve their physical well-being and functional skills. Additionally, you will be expected to fulfill operational obligations within the Rehabilitation Services Department when necessary.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
• Utilizes appropriate critical thinking and assessment in delivering healthcare. Conducts all facets of therapy based on accepted national, institutional, and evidence-aligned criteria. Provides therapy that either meets or exceeds departmental performance expectations.
• Creating documents swiftly and precisely to meet medical necessity requirements set by the department.
• Provides the essential paperwork for billing purposes, ensuring accuracy in charges and approvals.
• Displays initiative in personal professional growth. Successfully fulfills all educational prerequisites outlined by Monument Health and for licensure/certification in a prompt manner. Actively fosters the profession's image within Monument Health as well as in the external community.
• Includes and enlightens the patient, family, and caregivers in treatment, goal setting, and discharge preparation as needed.
• Adheres to the existing occupational therapy care schedule and coordinates with the primary occupational therapist regarding any adjustments or challenges encountered in the care plan.
• Adheres to insurance, accreditation, and national and state regulatory standards as required by law.
• Performing any extra duties as may be delegated.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - Associates degree or equivalent OR graduate of accredited program for Occupational Therapist Assistant
Certification - Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT)
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Related Experience
Certification - Licensure through SDBMOE - Accredited University or accredited training professionals
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
