Structural Engineer (PE) – Part-Time / Semi-Retired Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer (PE) to join our team on a part-time, flexible basis. This role is ideal for a semi-retired professional who wants to stay engaged in meaningful engineering work without the demands of a full-time schedule.
As part of our engineering group, you will provide technical expertise in foundation design, wood framing, shearwall, and steel structures, reviewing and guiding project deliverables prepared by our drafting and support team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency across a variety of residential and light commercial projects.
Responsibilities Review, guide, and approve structural designs and calculations
Provide oversight for wood framing, shearwall, foundation systems, and light structural steel
Collaborate with drafters and junior engineers to refine drawings and details
Apply practical engineering judgment to deliver safe, efficient, and code-compliant designs
Act as Engineer of Record (as needed) on select projects
Qualifications Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas
Minimum 10+ years of structural engineering experience
Strong background in residential and light commercial design
Proficiency in reviewing plans, calculations, and construction details
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
Open to part-time (20–30 hours/week), flexible schedule
