Job Summary

The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and improving predictive models and unified insights across Disney's TV portfolio, focusing on viewership forecasting and advertising sales revenue growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including addressable estimation groups, to drive business outcomes and enhance the company's data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Predictive Modeling: Design and develop new predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques to forecast and extend client engagement with Disney platforms across multiple KPIs.
  • Data Quality: Interpret raw data from multiple sources into meaningful and valuable insights for data-driven decision-making, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Business Insights: Build visualizations and interfaces to communicate results to business stakeholders in an easily digestible, manageable, and automated way.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders and data groups to identify opportunities, improve data modeling capabilities, and drive process improvements.
  • Process Improvement: Drive innovation by exploring new statistical methods and conceptualizing ways to enhance the current forecasting and reporting infrastructure.
  • Operations: Apply Agile principles, participate in stand-ups, and contribute to an "Open Source" learning environment where sharing, documenting, teaching, and collaborating with others is the culture.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics).
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in data science, predictive modeling, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • High proficiency in SQL and Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn) for data analysis.
    • Experience with ETL, data pipeline management, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, PySpark, Snowflake, Wind current, Databricks).
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
    • Experience designing and implementing predictive models (e.g., generalized linear models, time series, decision trees).
    • Experience working with Git.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Demonstrated sense of ownership and effective project ownership.
    • Relational skills - ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to various audiences.
    • Curiosity - enjoy digging deeper to find the bigger picture and are open to learning new technologies.
    • Client/Customer Oriented - strong relational skills, building relationships across teams and functions to gain trust and drive business objectives.
    • Humility - willing to contribute to the team, with a focus on helping others.
    • Comfort with complex data and adaptability in dynamic environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Experience using web frameworks (e.g., Django) and JavaScript libraries (e.g., ReactJS, JQuery) to build efficient frontend and backend web applications focused on client experience.
    • Experience implementing Docker containers.
