Summertown Metals is looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual for our Financial Auditor position. This is a full-time position which comes with benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc., vacation and PTO, and 401K with a company match.<br><br>The job duties include but are not limited to:<br><br><ul><li> In General:</li><li>Provide full transparency about company’s financial performance to management and owners when needed.</li><li>Review cash flow for proper operations and company function.</li><li>Create and suggest financial policies that align with Company core values as well as federal/state compliance.</li><li>Review reports to reduce costs company wide.</li><li>Work well under pressure and plan effective daily task completion.</li><li> Audit Planning and Execution:</li><li>Develop and execute audit plans and programs tailored to the specific risks of the building materials and construction business, including financial, operational, and performance audits.</li><li>Conduct audits of construction projects, reviewing contracts, change orders, invoices, and budgets to identify discrepancies and cost-saving opportunities.</li><li>Perform audits of construction processes, including raw material inventory, construction costs, and quality control procedures.</li><li> Financial Reporting and Analysis:</li><li>Examine financial statements, accounting records, and financial controls for accuracy, reliability, and compliance with GAAP.</li><li>Review complex accounting areas specific to construction, such as percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and retainage.</li><li>Analyze budget-to-actual variances and cost allocations, especially on large-scale construction projects.</li><li> Compliance and Risk Management:</li><li>Assess and test the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, operations, and information systems.</li><li>Monitor compliance with internal policies, government regulations (such as OSHA and EPA), and industry standards.</li><li>Identify potential risks, including fraud, waste, abuse, and financial irregularities, and recommend corrective actions.</li><li> Reporting and Communication:</li><li>Prepare and present clear, detailed audit reports to senior management, the audit committee, and other relevant stakeholders.</li><li>Provide well-supported recommendations for strengthening internal controls and improving operational efficiency.</li><li>Communicate with project managers, accounting staff, and other departments to facilitate the audit process and ensure timely follow-up on audit findings.</li><li> Process Improvement:</li><li>Collaborate with business units to implement audit recommendations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.</li><li>Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes affecting the building materials and construction sectors.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.</li><li> Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are highly preferred.</li><li> Experience:</li><li>Minimum of 3–5 years of auditing experience, with a preference for experience in the construction or building material manufacturing industries.</li><li>Experience auditing complex construction projects, including familiarity with GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) contracts.</li><li> Skills:</li><li>Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.</li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently.</li><li>Proficiency with relevant software, including ERP systems (e.g., ODOO), data analysis tools, and Microsoft Excel.</li><li>High level of integrity, objectivity, and professionalism.</li></ul>
