Job Overview

As an Academic Math Interventionist Teacher at MGLVA, you'll play a critical role in supporting students who are struggling with math concepts. You'll work closely with general education teachers to identify areas where students need extra support, and develop targeted interventions to help them catch up. This is a remote opportunity, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home, with the flexibility to manage your schedule and work at your own pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modify and Adapt Curriculum: Tailor the K12 curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student, aligning with state content standards.
  • Collaborate with Teachers: Work with general education teachers to identify areas where students need extra support, and develop targeted interventions to help them catch up.
  • Support Student Progress: Educate parents on various instructional strategies, and provide regular updates on student progress.
  • Prepare Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress, and prepare reports on intervention effectiveness.
  • Proctor Assessments: Administer achievement and other required tests to students, including alternative assessments as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Teaching Experience: A minimum of one year of classroom experience is required, with a strong track record of supporting students with diverse needs.
  • State Certification: You must hold a valid teaching certification in the state of Michigan, and meet HQ requirements for grade levels served.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and web-based applications is required, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with At-Risk Students: Previous experience working with students who are struggling academically, or who have been identified as "at-risk," is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances, including shifting student needs and priorities.
