About the Role
The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer plays a critical role in developing and maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) Tokenization products, ensuring credit card security and compliance with PCI requirements. This position also supports authentication libraries and authorization libraries used by Southwest application development teams to integrate with their enterprise authentication and authorization services. As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be at the forefront of driving the future of cybersecurity at Southwest Airlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide security guidance to application and development teams to remediate security vulnerabilities, risk items, and policy exceptions.
- Deliver training for clients on the use of key cybersecurity frameworks and automated environments.
- Identify cybersecurity issues, design solutions, recommend software and systems, and guide improvements in a systematic way to meet business requirements.
- Act as a problem solver to reflect the latest cybersecurity guidelines and practices.
- Serve as an enterprise subject matter expert (SME) and advocate for IT Security standards and reference architectures.
- Act as a mentor to both co-workers in Cybersecurity and development teams.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and develop business cases for changes.
- Lead teams to find the best solution and express thought leadership while ideating and testing group think.
- Administer prompt response and maintenance to production program issues.
- Collaborate with production testers to identify defects and complete testing.
- May perform other work obligations as directed by Employee's Chiefs.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree and a strong background in cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will have:
- Preferred skills in security-related programming - authentication, authorization, TLS, network segmentation (e.g., AWS NACLs, route tables, security groups, Kubernetes network policies).
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in at least one cloud computing technology and its concepts, such as AWS.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as-code (IaC) development (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar) and automated configuration management using configuration as-code (CaC) development (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or similar).
- Skills in executing Cybersecurity-specific Integration Tests providing Identity, Security Policy, and Cryptography.
- Proficiency in at least one implementation, logging, and monitoring tools, such as Prometheus, ELK Stack, AppD, and their integration into platform tools like AWS CloudWatch.
- Proficiency in at least one certification management tools and solutions, such as AWS Secrets Manager, CyberArk, or Hashicorp Vault.
- Knowledge of at least one existing components in value pipeline, such as PingFederate, eDirectory, Dynamic Registry, CyberArk, or Micro Focus IDM.
- Proficiency in at least two programming and development languages, such as Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, and Lua.
- Knowledge of Secure Proxy and/or API Gateway - Ambassador Proxy, F5 APM, PingAccess, Layer 7 API Gateway, AWS API Gateway.
- Proficiency in Authorization, such as XACML, OPA (Open Policy Agent), or Cedar.
- Proficiency in at least one Distributed Systems, such as REST, gRPC, SOAP, and CORBA.
- Proficiency in Data Security - PCI tokenization, pseudonymization, x.509 certificates, as well as mutual TLS.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
- Knowledge of identity federation protocols - OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and WS-Federation.
