Job Overview and Responsibilities

As a Sustainment Lead, you will play a critical role in supporting Federal EHR Modernization program activities, leading sustainment operations, and overseeing the ongoing management of our live Modernized EHR system. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating new software release management and upgrades to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to services
  • Overseeing service desk operations, managing escalations, and ensuring effective issue resolution to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for new hires and existing staff to ensure proficiency in the use of the EHR system
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, Clinical Informatics, and Training, to drive continuous improvement and innovation in EHR systems
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, staff, and EHR vendors, to address operational issues and drive excellence in EHR modernization
  • Staying up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in EHR systems, sharing knowledge and insights with the team to drive innovation and process improvement

Key Areas of Focus

As a Sustainment Lead, you will be responsible for managing four key areas of sustainment, including:

  • Release management: ensuring that all software releases, patches, and upgrades are thoroughly tested and implemented with minimal disruption to services
  • Training content management: developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to ensure that all staff are proficient in the use of the EHR system
  • Service desk management: overseeing service desk operations, managing escalations, and ensuring effective issue resolution to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Risk management: identifying and mitigating risks associated with EHR system implementation and ongoing management

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in large-scale Electronic Health Record (EHR) sustainment, with a strong technical background in EHR systems
  • Experience with post-go-live optimization, including release management, training content management, and service desk management
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the year, if needed
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Desired Qualifications and Experience

While not essential, the following qualifications and experience are highly desirable:

  • Degree in Healthcare Informatics or a related discipline
  • Oracle Health (Cerner) certification or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in system administration and support, with a strong technical background in EHR systems
  • ITIL certification or equivalent
  • Experience with ITSM (IT Service Management) and PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
