We are seeking an experienced and skilled Hardware Technician - IT Support Specialist to join our team in Edison, NJ. As a critical member of our IT support staff, you will provide first-level support to end-users, perform hands-on desktop repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of systems, and troubleshoot complex system problems. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level support to end-users, including hands-on desktop repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of systems
  • Troubleshoot complex system problems, including hardware and software issues
  • Perform operating system and application upgrades, hardware upgrades or repairs, and install new systems
  • Serve as a technical resource for help desk and PC support, providing assistance with complex system problems
  • Assist with the creation of new accounts, editing/termination of existing accounts, distribution lists, and resetting passwords
  • Help resolve desktop hardware and software issues, including network administration and address assignment
  • Support other office technology, such as televisions, projectors, video conference equipment, and mobile devices
  • Participate in developing procedures and suggest improvements to existing procedures
  • Respond to requests for assistance in person, over the phone, via email, and through an internal trouble ticket system
  • Perform additional duties as required and/or requested

Essential Qualifications

  • High school education required; college coursework preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an IT support environment
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and VPN
  • Good working knowledge of common office equipment, printers, faxes, projectors, and televisions
  • In-depth understanding of:
    • Active Directory domain administration
    • Windows 10
    • VPN
    • Remote Desktop
    • Office 2011/2013
    • Smartphone and iPad device configuration and administration
    • Phone System Administration (Phone System Programming, Support Hardware)
  • Good oral and written English language communication skills
  • Quick learner, strong/effective problem solver

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and virtualization
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks and best practices
  • Certifications in IT support, such as CompTIA A+ or equivalent
