Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and implement the SJV-CMSP curriculum and program activities, ensuring alignment with the program's goals and objectives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with K-12, community college, university, and clinical partners in the San Joaquin Valley to ensure stakeholder involvement in curricular design and implementation.
- Provide counseling support to scholars, utilizing advanced knowledge of college and career advising, course planning, and social-emotional development.
- Train clinical mentors and supervise SJV-CMSP college students in their clinical placements.
- Prioritize work assignments, manage multiple critical projects with deadlines, and demonstrate strong project management skills.
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, school representatives, and community contacts.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related area (e.g., education, counseling, psychology) and/or equivalent experience/training.
- At least 5 years of experience working with student populations from K-12 to college level, particularly those from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Comprehensive experience advising and supporting students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
- Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education policies and issues, as well as the ability to assess their impact on program strategies.
- Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
- Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions, admissions and financial aid requirements, and matriculation processes.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Valid driver's license (if driving).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related area.
- Knowledge of state and national education policies and current education theories.
- High-level skills in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience maintaining up-to-date knowledge of K-12 and higher education policies and issues, assessing their impact on program strategies, and disseminating information to school-site and district personnel.
- License/Certification: Valid CA driver's license (if driving).
