Key Responsibilities:
As a Research Director, you will oversee and develop the research capability across the Enterprise Growth Initiatives team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Managing scoping, prioritization, and allocation of research resources to ensure effective execution of research projects
- Overseeing project teams through the research life cycle, recommending methodologies, facilitating in-field research, and synthesizing research findings
- Serving as a strategic thought partner, providing expert guidance on qualitative research projects, including in-person and remote interviews, surveys, and concept testing
- Coaching teams through synthesis and analysis of research findings, activating insights, and identifying key opportunity areas
- Leading select projects, guiding project teams through innovation stage-gates, and ensuring concepts tie to clear consumer insights and business needs
- Upskilling the broader EGI team on research best practices and evolving research capabilities based on current and emerging Lean UX Research tools and techniques
- Building infrastructure and partnerships to expand and enable efficient, repeatable research capabilities both in-store and digitally
- Driving connection and community between research insights and researchers across the enterprise
- Developing and cultivating an inclusive team and learning-focused environment
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience practicing design research, strategic UX research, or relevant consumer research experience
- PhD in a relevant field is preferred
- Experience primarily in exploratory and generative qualitative UX/Design Research methods, including remote and in-person interviews, diary studies, and concept testing
- Ability to scope at multiple stages (e.g., exploratory, generative, evaluative) and synthesize complex data into actionable insights and concepts
- Demonstrated experience leading exploratory and generative research projects, with adaptability and focus on progress over perfection
- Experience overseeing and advising on best practices in research operations
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders to understand and act on insights, with experience developing and leading stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrated leadership skills and expertise guiding teams and researchers, with a focus on supporting individual team members' development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agency or consulting experience
- Experience with quantitative small and large-scale surveys
- Knowledge of Lean UX Research tools and techniques
