About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our team at Southwest Airlines. As a Full Stack Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our web and cloud-based applications, ensuring seamless integration with our data systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data, product, and engineering groups, to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process large, complex datasets that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
- Distinguish, design, and execute process improvements, including re-designing infrastructure for greater flexibility, improving data delivery, and automating manual processes.
- Develop required frameworks for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies.
- Build scientific tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing valuable insights into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
- Collaborate with partners, including data, product, item, and chief groups, to address data-related technical issues.
- Work with partners, including the Leader, Item, Information, and Configuration groups, to help their data system needs while addressing data-related technical issues.
- Create or modify hardware and technology to meet client needs.
- Perform other work duties as directed by Representative's Chiefs.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining web and cloud-based applications.
- Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance.
- Experience with AWS and SQL technologies, including Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon DynamoDB.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates with the following qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with data streaming technologies, such as Apache Kafka or Apache Flink.
- Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment.
