**The Role: Senior Data Engineer**
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will contribute to Disney's success by collaborating with business, analytics, and infrastructure teams to design and build data pipelines to support measuring subscriber growth and metrics. Working together across disciplines, you will identify internal/external data sources, design table schema, define ETL pipelines, and implement automated Data Quality checks.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Collaborate with technical and non-technical partners to determine data and reporting requirements (40%)
* Work with design teams to gather required data from internal and external systems (20%)
* Design table schema and define ETL pipelines to build performant data solutions that are reliable and flexible in a rapidly evolving data ecosystem (20%)
* Develop Data Quality checks (10%)
* Create and maintain ETL schedules using ETL and orchestration tools like AWS Glue (5%)
* Execute database organizations using tools like Apache Spark (5%)
* Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed (5%)
* Perform SQL and ETL tuning as needed (5%)
**Essential Qualifications:**
* 2+ years of relevant data engineering experience
* Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including layered modeling and data standardization standards
* Excellent understanding of SQL engines and ability to lead advanced performance tuning
* Ability to think critically, analyze, and interpret market and customer data
* Strong relational skills – written and verbal presentations
* Excellent applied and analytical thinking skills
* Willingness to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment
* Knowledge of Agile Scrum principles and practices
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* 2+ years of experience implementing and monitoring business key performance indicators in data warehousing environments
* 2+ years of experience using scientific SQL, working with traditional relational databases or distributed systems (Snowflake or Redshift)
* 2+ years of experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, PySpark)
* 2+ years of experience with data organization/ETL tools (AWS Glue, Nifi)
* Experience with Snowflake, Databricks/EMR/Spark, or AWS Glue
