About the Role
As a Plant Logistics Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Roasting Plants, where our expert roasters and supporting process teams work together to deliver high-quality coffee products. You'll be responsible for coordinating the movement of raw materials, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Completes required documentation of product and raw material movement, ensuring accurate tracking and inventory management.
- Supports scheduled production throughput levels to meet team needs for reliability and budget requirements.
- Coordinates the movement of raw materials from the warehouse to production areas based on data reports and automated inventory systems.
- Ensures all outbound product is available for distribution, meeting customer demands and expectations.
- Performs stock counts, reconciles, and makes visual checks of on-hand raw materials, identifying and correcting errors.
- Performs various shipping, receiving, and stock control tasks, including loading and unloading trailers, replenishing stock, and filling orders.
- Moves trailers as needed in the yard to facilitate loading and unloading, ensuring efficient logistics operations.
- Completes tasks efficiently and effectively to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identifies, reviews, and documents any deviations from quality, legality, or food safety requirements, taking corrective action as needed.
- Demonstrates and knows safety as our core value, following key requirements to safety as set forth by our safety resolution, and coaching others to do the same.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A high school diploma/GED, US military service, or equivalent.
- Forklift certification, with the ability to operate required material handling equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to analyze data.
- Basic math skills, with the ability to perform stock counts and identify methods to reduce material outages.
- Ability to follow verbal direction, with knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation.
- Self-motivated and able to work according to safety, quality, and sanitation standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Available to work variable shifts to support business needs, with a commitment to regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, with 1+ year of experience in material handling and a regulated food production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems and their applications.
- Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards, such as Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
- Experience with GFSI certification schemes, such as BRC and/or SQF.
