Job Summary

As an Infrastructure Engineer at American Express, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of our technical infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our systems meet the needs of our business and customers. This is a full-time remote opportunity with a competitive salary of $27 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the analysis of business, application, and technical infrastructure requirements.
  • Support the design, build, development, and integration of infrastructure needed to support the business portfolio or infrastructure stage regarding robustness, resilience, availability, and efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives that deliver functional end-to-end infrastructure solutions that adhere to Innovation standards.
  • Plan, assign, and manage the effective utilization of Functional Help resources for the duration of the development life cycle, across multiple development teams.
  • Oversee break/fix, incident, and issue activities across the team.
  • Manage Architects or potentially Implementation Analysts in the local market team.
  • Monitor, control, and report Functional Help consumption throughout the development life cycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business/development teams or vendors needing support in resolving issues.
  • Coordinate Task resources in the resolution/anticipation of issues where necessary.
  • Enforce production confirmation practices.
  • Work with the utilization of technical informed authority ability to advance the design of technical solutions/enhancements.
  • Aid quality assessments by supporting quality rating measures on key changes.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and procedures for the production and administration support capability.
  • Communicate ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) compliance process conformance for incident, issue, and change management.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in a mainframe environment.
  • Experience with the design and implementation of mainframe and distributed applications.
  • 2+ years of experience with mainframe systems, hardware, and operating systems.
  • 2+ years of experience monitoring issues, change and incident tickets, enforcing compliance with ability, root cause analysis, and change quality targets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in an operations or support role.
