About the Role
As a Dental Director at UnitedHealthcare, you'll play a critical role in overseeing clinical management and review activities, driving quality improvement initiatives, and fostering strong relationships with dental professionals. You'll be responsible for improving the quality and efficiency of oral healthcare in our program, ensuring that our members receive the best possible care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain collegial relationships with contracted and affiliate dentists to support business efforts
- Oversee grievance and appeals processes, reviewing dental and medical/dental cases, and representing the plan at State-level Fair Hearings as needed
- Collaborate with the Quality Director to implement state-specific clinical initiatives and ensure alignment with our business model
- Drive quality improvement activities, identifying and executing processes to enhance quality indicators
- Participate in Committees, as needed, and collaborate with Business Operations and Provider Relations staff
- Partner with the Clinical Affordability team to develop innovative approaches to making healthcare more efficient and meaningful
- Cascade clinical outcome/improvement messaging to cross-functional teams to foster a tighter working culture
- Develop meaningful relationships with dental providers, driving aligned performance through financial and quality incentives, best practices, and forward-thinking solutions
- Identify and develop best practices in support of continuous financial and quality improvement
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree
- A current and unrestricted Kansas Dental License
- At least 5 years of clinical experience and 3 years of managed care experience
- Post-graduate experience in direct patient care
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Current residency in Kansas
- Ability to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy for remote work
