Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Assistant Professor of Art with a specialization in 2D/Printmaking to join our Art Department faculty. This is a full-time, tenure-track position that begins in late July 2024. The successful candidate will be an active Christian and a dedicated teacher-scholar committed to preparing students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a course load of 12 credit hours per long semester, primarily in studio art curriculum within printmaking and 2D media (photography, drawing, design, color theory, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain curriculum that reflects both traditional and contemporary trends in art and professional practices
  • Participate in student recruitment, advising, and mentoring
  • Engage in university and departmental service, including committee work and other forms of service
  • Maintain a scholarly or creative portfolio and contribute to the department's efforts in undergraduate competitions, field trips, and portfolio reviews
  • Assist new graduates with job-seeking and career development
  • Teach art history and survey courses or art education courses as needed, based on departmental needs and the candidate's specialty

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • An M.F.A. in Printmaking or a closely related area of 2D studio art
  • University-level teaching experience beyond graduate teaching
  • A strong record of professional or academic accomplishment within your specialty
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills
  • A dedication to professional attainment and commitment to quality improvement
  • An active, committed Christian faith

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in art history and contemporary trends in art
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment
  • A record of scholarly or creative activity, including exhibitions, publications, or presentations
