Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Biology Teaching Assistant to provide academic support to students enrolled in various biology courses at the USU Brigham City Campus. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the academic discipline and will be able to create a comfortable and respectful learning environment during tutoring sessions. This is a remote opportunity, and the role is available for immediate commencement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with instructors about course materials to determine academic needs and develop effective tutoring strategies.
  • Be at work during scheduled tutoring times and provide high-quality academic support to students.
  • Create a comfortable, respectful learning environment during sessions, promoting active learning and student engagement.
  • Sanitize and clean laboratory equipment and facilities as needed.
  • Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to advance academic excellence and student success.

Essential Qualifications

  • Course proficiency in biology, as demonstrated by transcript and interview with committee members.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to students and tutor appropriately.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and sit for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant or tutor in a biology or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of biology and ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of academic ability.
