About the Position
The MSC Lending Advisor I/II serves as a sales and service ambassador, playing a vital role in assisting members with consumer loan applications and providing expert guidance on financial products and services. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to phone calls from members wanting to apply for a loan or have questions regarding an existing loan, providing timely and accurate support.
- Act as a trusted lending advisor, utilizing integrity and expertise in every sale and service interaction with members and potential members.
- Establish and develop member relationships through an omni-channel environment, maintaining the members' best interests and providing personalized support.
- Qualify members for appropriate products and services, seeking to close sales of lending products and services that are beneficial to both the member and the Credit Union.
- Achieve daily, weekly, monthly, and other contact and sales goals, consistently meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Process member loans by phone, including interviewing and qualifying loan applicants, reviewing credit bureau reports, preparing loan documentation, and inputting information into the computer.
- Explain all documentation and procedures accurately to members, ensuring a clear understanding of the loan process and requirements.
- Follow up with members as appropriate, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout the loan process.
- Assist members with opening and closing accounts, including loan products, and notify members of denied loan requests in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Work with other lending support areas to assist members with basic loan servicing questions and needs, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.
- Prepare analytical reports in MS Excel for management, summarizing leads and applications generated through member contact activities and providing valuable insights for future growth.
- Effectively communicate results and concerns with supervisor through one-on-one meetings, ensuring open and transparent communication.
- Attend required lending trainings and refreshers, staying up-to-date on industry developments and best practices.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum two years of financial institution and/or call center experience, with a strong understanding of lending principles and practices.
- Previous lending or member/customer service experience, with a proven track record of building strong relationships and driving sales growth.
- Previous sales experience, with a strong ability to communicate effectively and persuasively.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required, with an Associate's degree preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with members, colleagues, and management.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Microsoft Excel, with the ability to prepare analytical reports and summaries.
