Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced National Account Manager - Construction to join our team. As a Strategic Account Manager, Construction sales, you will be responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with strategically important large customers across all focus segments of Lowe's. This role requires building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with key personnel in assigned strategic accounts, understanding the account's needs, and collaborating with other internal functions to ensure that accounts succeed in achieving their business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the profitable sales and growth of national accounts, as well as bringing in new accounts
  • Lead a joint national account planning process that focuses on mutual value creation and customer lifetime value over the short, mid, and long term
  • Understand customers' long-term business goals, associated pain points, and identify suitable upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Develop and maintain solid, trusting relationships with key decision-makers at customer organizations
  • Lead the implementation and solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary internal partners
  • Build relationships with strategic decision-makers at customer organizations and understand the internal organizational dynamics of strategic customers
  • Cultivate consulting relationships with customers, form customer relationships at multiple levels to provide good service, develop future business opportunities, and gain referrals
  • Execute successful contract renewals and negotiate pricing updates with strategic accounts when necessary
  • Conduct comprehensive account reviews at least quarterly with assigned strategic customers, communicating progress towards achieving customers' stated objectives
  • Identify and coordinate the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, to meet strategic account performance objectives
  • Coordinate post-sale follow-up activities, ensuring that customers' expectations are met
  • Share leading/best practices and account trends/behaviors with the rest of the account management team and with the account portfolio to ensure that knowledge is leveraged
  • Provide guidance to field sales leaders and representatives, globally, who also work with strategic customers on the execution of management of customer contract requirements
  • Conduct job-related training to increase knowledge, consultation, negotiation, and sales skills; attend strategic and/or conduct development meetings with sales management
  • Represent the company at various trade associations and meetings to demonstrate and promote our products, as well as understand and expand knowledge of the account sector/vertical, business, strategic competitors, and further expertise in the specified business/industry

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a key selling role
  • Must be able to work flexible hours necessary to meet customer and management expectations and respond after normal work hours when necessary
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college work or degree preferred
  • Experience in the multifamily industry is preferred
  • Previous experience using computer programs, including use of CRM software (Salesforce.com), pipeline management, contact management, sales management, and reporting system, internet, Microsoft Office tools
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel regularly throughout the assigned geographical area
  • Previous experience in selling in a long sales cycle with complex financial data and a strong understanding of financials, profitability, and cash flow
  • Preference for a candidate in the Central or Eastern Time Zone

  • 5+ years of experience in a key selling role, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proven track record of success in managing and growing national accounts
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry, including trends, challenges, and opportunities
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop creative solutions
