Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and adapt instructional programs for students with special educational needs, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records, including progress reports and special education paperwork, within designated timelines.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and virtual tools to meet the diverse needs of students, continuously assessing their abilities and adjusting instructional plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other educators to provide consultation on instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Conduct regular parent/student meetings, both in-person and via technology platforms, to discuss student progress, goals, and challenges.
- Work closely with the special education director, RTI specialist, and other team members to ensure seamless delivery of special education services, including record keeping, data management, and compliance with special education laws and regulations.
- Participate in professional development activities, staff meetings, and required meetings to enhance professional competence and contribute to the innovation and growth of the distance learning program.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Current State of Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsements in special education.
- Minimum of one year of successful teaching experience in special education, or completion of an Oregon instructional internship program.
- Operational knowledge of the Internet, web-related technologies, and virtual learning platforms.
- Dedicated workspace free from distractions and ability to pass a background check.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in special education, preferably in a virtual or charter school setting.
- Demonstrated competency in curriculum development, special education laws, evaluation techniques, and behavior management.
- Experience with homeschooling and online education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
