Job Overview and Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will provide operational support to our Prescription department, ensuring seamless and efficient processing of prescriptions. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving and processing prescription requests in an accurate and timely manner to obtain provider approval
  • Performing assigned prescription functions and duties in support of the prescription department
  • Taking incoming calls and making outreach telephone calls to patients who have requested medication refills or renewals
  • Processing medication requests following standard procedures
  • Checking appropriate notes, pertinent lab results, and ordering labs required to support requests pending provider approval
  • Ensuring patients are up-to-date with appointments and booking follow-up appointments as needed to sustain compliance with treatments
  • Selecting and pending correct medication, dosage, sig, and number of refills, while selecting the correct pharmacy and updating agreements accordingly
  • Processing prior authorizations for medications not covered by patients' insurance
  • Performing tasks focused on fostering teamwork and dedication to patient safety and satisfaction

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Massachusetts
  • 1+ years of experience as a retail Pharmacy Technician
  • Ability to maintain MA Pharmacy Technician licensure

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience with Pharmacy management software and operational platforms
  • Adherence to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy (for remote workers)
