About the Role
As a Data Engineer at Blithequark, you will be responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and databases. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of data acquisition processes, data validation, and ETL/ELT data pipelines. You will also be involved in various data engineering activities, such as:
- Data requirements gathering and source-to-target planning
- Data validation and review
- Data visualization and reporting
- Developing and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Designing and implementing database schema, tables, and views
- Delivering datasets as input to science models and visualizations
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer at Blithequark, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and databases
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and develop data products
- Ensuring data quality and integrity through data validation and review
- Developing and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines using tools like SQL, Python, and Docker
- Designing and implementing database schema, tables, and views
- Delivering datasets as input to science models and visualizations
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and support
- Proven experience with Python and SQL, preferably with Snowflake
- Experience working in a multi-environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP methodologies for code deployment and development
- Experience creating and maintaining automated work schedulers
- Strong understanding of relational database design and functionality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, ideally cloud-based, like Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
- Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, preferably AWS
- Experience managing and delivering code using source control tools like GitLab/GitHub
- Experience using Docker
