Job Overview
As a Senior Staff Engineer at GEICO, you will play a crucial role in innovating and building new systems, improving existing ones, and identifying opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap aimed at increasing the velocity of product delivery and unlocking new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in open-source technologies such as Terraform, Postgres, KEDA, Knative, and Kubernetes as a service.
Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, compliance, and application teams, to ensure the seamless integration and alignment of solutions with organizational goals.
- Build resilient and scalable architecture, driving innovation and cost efficiency.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Deep hands-on experience in complex system design and implementation of containers and Kubernetes platforms.
- Fluency in at least two object-oriented programming (OOP) languages such as Java, Go, Python, C++, etc.
- Good knowledge of at least two of the following languages: C, C#, or other object-oriented languages, PHP, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, shell script, etc.
- An exemplary ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap.
- Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc., and familiarity with No-SQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, Elasticsearch. Knowledge of NewSQL databases like TiDB or YugabyteDB is a plus.
- A track record of publications in credible conferences and journals.
- Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
- Experience deploying applications with PaaS platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms.
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle.
- Knowledge of big data and streaming data architecture (Lambda/Kappa), K8s cluster, and ETL pipeline.
- Knowledge of ML and AI technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline and related open-source tools like GIT/Jenkins/CircleCI/SonarQube.
- Knowledge of open-source monitoring software like Grafana and Prometheus.
- Experience using Terraform (infrastructure as code).
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Expertise in Azure Functions, Azure Web Apps, and AWS Lambda.
- Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Certifications.
- Experience with serverless architecture using open-source tools such as KEDA and Knative.
- Experience with Python and PowerShell programming.
- Experience with technical software development for Platform Engineering domain.
- Experience with Go open-source programming language.
- Experience solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches.
Experience and Education
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years of professional experience in building PaaS services such as Serverless Platform, Cluster management platform based on Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration platform running on private and public clouds.
- 8+ years of experience in design, architecture, and implementation of highly secure, scalable, and reliable enterprise-grade platforms and applications.
- 6+ years of experience with open-source frameworks.
- 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000.00 - $261,500.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Our Total Rewards Program includes:
