Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptionally talented and motivated Lead Data Engineer to join our team in San Francisco, USA. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing our Data Products and Data Warehouses around Commitment and Maintenance Analysis and Data Science. Your expertise will be crucial in crafting scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in large data environments, and ensuring high operational efficiency and quality of our data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of our Data Products and Data Warehouses focused on Commitment and Maintenance Analysis and Data Science.
  • Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in large data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid) using technologies such as Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Flink, and Wind stream.
  • Help engineer data solutions/structures and define data models for the central data warehouse and data marts.
  • Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Modelers, and Data Architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance.
  • Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and uphold our commitment to our clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams).
  • Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to craft queries to extract data and build performant datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems like Flink, Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) to query and process data.
  • Solid programming skills in Python, Java/Scala.
  • Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query).
  • Strong experience in data integration toolsets (e.g., Wind current) and writing and maintaining Data Pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Data Modeling methodologies and Data Warehousing best practices.
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, having experience with Cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2) is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.
