As a Senior Data Scientist at blithequark, you will utilize your quantitative background to mentor junior researchers and dive into large datasets to guide navigation and drive business decisions.

Job Summary

As a Senior Data Scientist at blithequark, you will work on uncovering insights and transforming them into actionable recommendations, driving decisions for the entire organization. You will tackle a wide range of exciting challenges, including customer acquisition, fraud and support, marketing, balancing supply and demand, new city launches, and more. If you enjoy finding patterns in complex data and have experience using analysis to influence revenue, growth, operations, or other areas, we are looking for someone like you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize quantitative analysis and data presentation to see beyond numbers and understand what drives our business.
  • Build full-cycle analysis trials, reports, and dashboards using SQL, R, Python, or other scripting and statistical tools.
  • Mentor and coach junior professionals on advanced strategies and problem-solving techniques.
  • Produce recommendations and use statistical methods and hypothesis testing to validate findings.
  • Provide insights to help business and product leaders understand marketplace dynamics, customer behaviors, and long-term trends.
  • Identify and measure switches to help move key metrics and make recommendations.
  • Work backward from understanding and measuring issues to ideating solutions.
  • Report against goals by identifying key metrics and building leader-facing dashboards to track progress.
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement, report, validate, and monitor logging.

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in Math, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis, consulting, or a related role.
  • Experience working with pipeline optimization, customer segmentation, peer analysis, time series analysis, regression models, and more.
  • Mastery of SQL queries, ETL, A/B Testing, and statistical analysis (e.g., hypothesis testing, experimentation, regressions) with statistical packages like Matlab, R, SAS, or Python.
  • Proficiency in at least one analysis and visualization tool (e.g., Chartio, Looker, Tableau).
  • The ability to take ambiguous issues and resolve them in a structured, hypothesis-driven, data-supported way.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large datasets and complex data systems.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
