Purpose and Scope

As a Seasonal Part-Time Customer Service Representative, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional member experiences. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving, investigating, and responding to all member inquiries and resolving member problems and/or complaints in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Driving the blithequark culture through values and customer service standards.
  • Providing outstanding customer service to all external and internal contacts.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Taking initiative and action to respond, resolve, and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.

Job Specifics

This is a seasonal part-time role with a schedule of 20 hours total, consisting of:

  • Saturdays and Sundays – offering two 8-hour shifts;
  • Shift 1 - 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST
  • Shift 2 - 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM EST
  • Additional 4-hour shift scheduled for coverage during peak business hours.

The duration of this role is from October 2024 through January 2025. As a seasonal team member, you will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and inclusive team, develop valuable relationships, and gain new skills.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

As a Seasonal Part-Time Customer Service Representative, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Answering and tracking telephone calls within established department standards.
  • Tracking all existing member calls within the IKA database, ensuring that documentation is concise and factual.
  • Fully understanding all lines of business benefits, medical management processes, demographic change processes, and process for changing Primary Care Physicians (PCP).
  • Answering “entry-level” claims inquiries.
  • Taking “Over the Counter” (OTC) orders for products and diabetic supplies.
  • Understanding and processing “entry-level” enrollment and disenrollment procedures.
  • Entering prospective members into our software database.
  • Maintaining appropriate current source documents and reference documents.
  • Interacting professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Working effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Working independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • As required, redirecting calls to the appropriate department.

Customer Service

Education, Experience, and Required Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents and calculate figures and amounts.
  • Strong typing skills (40-60WPM).
  • Ability to manage all customer questions/issues while maintaining the highest level of professionalism, providing thoughtful prompt resolution with empathy, poise, and a consistent voice with the ongoing goal of establishing a positive customer experience.
  • Must be self-driven with a positive outlook and have the ability to demonstrate confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with customers.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately, as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.
  • Ability to toggle between different systems to gather information and provide updates.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including good grammar, voice, and diction.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills (friendly, courteous, and helpful).
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of six months to one-year related experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
