[Remote] Accounting Manager – Lead the Department, Build the Future

Washington & Co Inc. is looking for a proactive and confident Accounting Manager who can lead the accounting department and drive performance. The role involves overseeing financial reporting, managing the close process, and optimizing accounting systems while providing leadership and accountability for the team. Responsibilities • Oversee accurate, GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financials. • Manage the entire close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Analyze financial data to drive insight and decision-making. • Collaborate on annual budgets and cash flow forecasting. • Ensure financial goals align with departmental and organizational strategy. • Monitor budget variances and recommend corrective actions proactively. • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and accountability for the accounting staff. • Set expectations, monitor performance, and build a culture of execution and growth. • Develop internal SOPs and train team members for cross-functional coverage. • Own and improve accounting systems and workflows. • Leverage tools like QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERPs for automation and control. • Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable, repeatable processes. • Serve as a trusted financial liaison for client engagements. • Partner with the tax team to align reporting with strategic tax planning. • Support the CEO and Director of Ops with clear, accurate financial updates.
