Job Overview

We are looking for a talented and dedicated scholar with expertise in BIPOC Queer Studies and/or BIPOC LGBTQ2+ Studies to teach intersectional LGBTQ2+ courses, contribute to the development of our curriculum, and engage in service to the department and the broader university community. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to social justice, community engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key Responsibilities

  • Teach intersectional LGBTQ2+ courses, including Introduction to LGBTQ2+ Studies, for undergraduate WGSS majors/minors, LGBTQ2+ Studies minors, and general education students
  • Develop and teach courses in BIPOC Queer Studies and/or BIPOC LGBTQ2+ Studies, as well as other areas of expertise
  • Contribute to the development of the WGSS curriculum, including the upper division core sequence
  • Engage in service to the department, college, and university, including committee work, advising, and community outreach
  • Pursue a research agenda that aligns with the department's mission and goals
  • Mentor and advise students, particularly those from underrepresented groups
  • Collaborate with other departments and programs to promote interdisciplinary teaching and research

Essential Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Women's Studies, Women and Gender Studies, LGBTQ+ studies, Queer Studies, or other closely related disciplines from an accredited institution
  • Evidence of scholarly expertise in BIPOC Queer or BIPOC LGBTQ2+ studies
  • Ability to effectively work with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Commitment to community engagement and social justice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful college teaching experience
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: reproductive justice and reproductive technologies, public health policy, environmental studies and activism, or science studies
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in the WGSS upper division core sequence, which includes feminist theories, history of feminisms, feminist research methods, and/or transnational feminism
  • Commitment to community programming and building
