About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist to join our team. As the initial point of contact for our patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, clinical staff, and practices, you will play a vital role in facilitating patient healthcare needs and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities

  • Navigate the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain accountability for accurate data entry while ensuring patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service in a variety of situations.
  • Leverage critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues in the electronic health record and consulting/escalating to clinical staff when necessary.
  • Schedule patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verify and update insurance, and collect and document demographics, maintaining proficiency in and sharing knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions.
  • Communicate directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours and document and send messages to providers and clinical staff in the electronic health record for clinical-based needs.
  • Manage calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time, and providing excellent and consistent customer service in a variety of situations.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in customer service or healthcare, with a strong preference for recent healthcare experience.
  • Typing speed of minimum 35 wpm with 90% accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Must live within 1 hour of St. Louis, Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with electronic health records and insurance basics.
  • Knowledge of MyChart and appointment instructions.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
