Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate part-time Instructor in Web and Digital Media Design to join our team at MATC. As a part-time instructor, you will be responsible for developing and teaching concepts and strategies for a variety of courses, including web design, digital media, and related topics. You will have the opportunity to teach courses at MATC campuses, business, community, and other sites, as well as online, during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities
- Manage the classroom/laboratory and develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area and attend departmental and institutional meetings
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC
- Support student organizations and activities and develop relationships with business and industry
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up and maintain certification, continue professional development, and stay current in the field
- Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in one of the following: Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Multimedia, Web Development, Mobile Application Development, Curriculum Development and Instruction, Computer Engineering, Business Education, Animation, Adult Education, Information Studies/Technology, Interactive Design, Film/Video Production
- Verifiable occupational experience and appropriate training totaling 14,000 hours in the occupational areas in any of the following: Computer programming, Graphic Design, Multimedia Development, Web Design or Development, Mobile Development, Game Development, Animation, Usability Design, Interactive Media, and Visual Communication
- At least one of the three years of occupational experience must have occurred within the last 5 years
- Two years of teaching Interactive Media, Computer programming, Graphic Design, Multimedia Development, Web Design or Development, Mobile Development, Game Development, Animation, Usability Design, Interactive Media, or Visual Communication at the post-secondary level within the last 5 years
- Must meet all applicable industry and vendor certification requirements, licensure requirements, and Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Previous teaching experience, particularly in a post-secondary setting
- Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments, including in-person and online
- Experience using a variety of instructional methods, including face-to-face, blended, and 100% online
- Working knowledge of computers and software related to instructional area, including MS Office/Google Suite, data systems, mobile technologies, web conference tools, and social networking
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Blackboard or similar learning management system (LMS)
- Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning
