We are a dedicated team of educators and support staff at the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve, committed to providing high-quality educational services to students, families, and schools in our community. Our ESCWR Page Turners program is specifically designed to support grade 3 students in preparing for Ohio's Third Grade Reading Guarantee Test. We are now seeking an experienced and passionate Teacher or Tutor to join our team on a remote basis, with the ability to work on-site at our Student & Family Resource Center in Lake County. Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

As a Teacher or Tutor for our ESCWR Page Turners program, you will play a vital role in providing one-on-one and small group tutoring to grade 3 students. Your primary objective will be to support students in achieving their full potential, particularly in the area of literacy, and to help them prepare for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee Test. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering personalized instruction and support to students, tailored to their individual needs and learning styles
  • Creating engaging and interactive learning materials, using a range of resources and technologies to present instruction in a way that is geared to each student's ability and interest
  • Providing continuous assessment and feedback to students, to help them track their progress and stay motivated
  • Collaborating with parents, caregivers, and other educators to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment
  • Developing and implementing strategies to support students' social-emotional and behavioral development, in addition to their academic growth
  • Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and progress, and using this data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions
  • Participating in meetings and training sessions, as required, to stay up-to-date with best practices and to contribute to the ongoing development of our programs and services

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education or a related field. A valid teaching license with the State of Ohio Department of Education is highly desirable, although we will consider candidates who are able to obtain a substitute teaching license. You will also need to undergo a Criminal Records Check, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39, and pass a 10-panel drug screen at the time of hire.

In addition to these formal qualifications, we are looking for a candidate who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality educational services and supporting the needs of our students and families.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

While not essential, we would prefer candidates who have previous experience of working in a similar role, particularly in the area of literacy support or special education. A strong understanding of the Ohio Third Grade Reading Guarantee and its requirements would be an asset, as would experience of working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of ability.
