About the Role
As a Senior API Documentation Specialist, you will play a critical role in building clear, accurate documentation for our brand new SDK and cloud-based API products. You will work closely with developers and product managers to review and refine API documentation, ensuring that it is comprehensive, easy to understand, and meets the needs of our developer community. Your expertise will shine in this innovative environment, where you will have the opportunity to develop technical content related to Omniverse, USD, and other sophisticated topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive API documentation: Build reference materials and developer guides that simplify complex processes and make it easy for developers to understand and use our API products.
- Collaborate with developers and product managers: Review and refine API documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency, and to meet the needs of our developer community.
- Improve developer resources: Incorporate relevant code samples and examples to help developers get started with our API products and to facilitate their use.
- Develop technical content: Create high-quality technical content related to Omniverse, USD, and other sophisticated topics, including documentation, guides, and tutorials.
- Improve documentation quality and organization: Ensure that our documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easy to navigate, and that it meets the needs of our developer community.
- Work with version control systems and documentation tools: Use tools like Git, VS Code, Sphinx, RST, and Markdown to manage and maintain our documentation.
- Participate in team initiatives: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate, share knowledge, and scale documentation alongside product growth.
- Maintain documentation standards: Help maintain documentation standards and keep internal resources up-to-date, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all documentation.
- Lead work using Agile methodologies: Use Agile tools like Jira to manage and prioritize work, and to ensure that documentation is delivered on time and to a high standard.
What We Need to See
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 6+ years of experience crafting API documentation: A proven track record of creating high-quality API documentation, including reference materials and developer guides.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience: A strong foundation in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience in technical documentation.
- Track record of running API documentation projects: Experience managing and delivering API documentation projects from start to finish, and familiarity with API documentation tools and processes.
- Comfort using GitHub and GitLab: Proficiency with version control systems, including GitHub and GitLab.
- Strong communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to developers and non-technical stakeholders.
- A portfolio showcasing your documentation contributions: A portfolio that demonstrates your expertise and experience in technical documentation, including samples of your work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively: The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd
If you have experience with the following, it will be highly valued:
- Experience with gRPC or REST APIs: Familiarity with gRPC or REST APIs, and experience creating documentation for these types of APIs.
- Familiarity with ReadMe.io & Buf documentation tools: Experience with ReadMe.io and Buf documentation tools, and the ability to use these tools to create high-quality documentation.
- Knowledge of the Brightspot publishing platform: Familiarity with the Brightspot publishing platform, and experience using this platform to create and manage documentation.
