Job Overview

The Senior Data Engineer will work closely with various business groups and cross-functional teams to design and implement data solutions that meet business and data science needs. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality results. The ideal candidate will have experience in data engineering, data architecture, and data science, with a strong foundation in programming languages such as Python.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large-scale data architectures and pipelines to organize, collect, and normalize data, producing insights and addressing reporting needs.
  • Develop ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) processes, design database systems, and create tools for real-time and offline analytical processing.
  • Collaborate with the data science team to integrate data and incorporate algorithms and models into digital processes.
  • Work with data in Cloud, Hadoop, and experience designing and optimizing queries to build data pipelines.
  • Utilize strong programming skills in Python or other major languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems.
  • Develop data warehouses and data models to support Data Science and other internal clients, integrating data from various sources and ensuring adherence to data quality and accessibility standards.
  • Analyze current data technology environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions.
  • Experiment with available tools and advise on new tools to determine the optimal solution given the requirements directed by the model/use case.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on data architecture and pipeline development.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with Cloud-based platforms (GCP preferred, AWS, or Azure).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, or PySpark.
  • Experience with Reporting (Tableau).
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry is an asset.
